Townsville University Hospital (TUH) is seeking passionate and skilled FACEMs to join our high-performing consultant team in a busy mixed adult and paediatric Emergency Department. TUH Emergency Department is one of the largest and busiest in Queensland, managing approximately 100,000 presentations annually, with a 30% admission rate and 95% ambulance off-stretcher compliance. Our service includes:

· A 12-bed dedicated paediatric zone (~20% of presentations)

  • A high-acuity adult caseload
  • An integrated Short Stay Unit
  • A key role as the major referral hub for North Queensland

The Opportunity

As a Staff Specialist (FACEM) at TUH, you’ll enjoy diverse and rewarding clinical exposure, including:

· Managing complex adult and paediatric emergency presentations

  • Participation in aeromedical retrieval coordination across Northern Queensland (for credentialed FACEMs)
  • Contributing to the Frailty Intervention Team, delivering innovative outreach care for vulnerable geriatric patients in RACFs
  • Supporting and developing junior doctors and trainees

This role offers genuine scope to expand your clinical practice, contribute to service innovation, and take on leadership opportunities.

What You’ll Bring

· FACEM (or equivalent)

  • Eligibility for AHPRA registration
  • Demonstrated experience in adult and paediatric Emergency Medicine
  • A commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care
  • Interest or experience in retrieval medicine, geriatric emergency care, or service improvement (highly regarded)

Remuneration & Benefits

This role offers a compelling combination of financial incentives, lifestyle benefits, and genuine clinical scope.

This position offers a highly competitive and comprehensive remuneration package, including:

· Attraction and Retention Incentive Allowance - up to 50% of base salary

  • Emergency Department Specialist Allowance – 25% of base salary
  • Regional and Rural Attraction Allowance – 5% of base salary (10% for Palm Island)
  • Motor Vehicle Allowance – approximately $21,000 – $25,500 per annum
  • Professional Development Package – $21,500 per annum + 3.6 weeks professional development leave
  • On-call and shift allowances (where applicable)
  • Generous leave entitlements and salary sacrificing options
  • Flexible working arrangements, including full-time or part-time appointments with negotiable hours
