Data Analyst Specialist

Afrimat is currently seeking the services of a Data Analyst Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and analyzing data to generate insights that support informed decision‑making across the organisation. This role plays a critical part in transforming raw data into meaningful information by identifying trends, patterns, and actionable insights that drive business performance and strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Information Technology, Actuarial Science, Data Science, or Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years’ professional experience in analytical or data‑driven roles
  • Proven experience performing analytical work within a strong analytical environment or department
  • Demonstrated business critical‑thinking and creative problem‑solving abilities
  • Experience in building data models using tools such as Qlik and Power BI
  • Valid Drivers Licence
  • The candidate must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act
Duties And Responsibilities (not Limited To)
  • Providing actionable recommendations based on analysis
  • Assisting business teams in making data‑driven decisions
  • Working with stakeholders to understand business needs and tailor analyses to address specific challenges
  • Partnering with IT, database administrators, and data engineers for data access and infrastructure needs
  • Using statistical and analytical methods to uncover trends, patterns, and relationships within the data
  • Performing exploratory data analysis (EDA) to understand the data better
  • Creating dashboards, charts, and reports to present findings in a clear and visually appealing way
  • Using tools like Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Qlik
  • Design and implement data models to support analytics and reporting requirements
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries and metadata for structured understanding of datasets
  • Optimize data structures for performance and scalability across systems
  • Translate business requirements into analytical solutions and technical specifications
  • Perform gap analysis to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
  • Prepare and present business cases supported by data‑driven evidence for decision‑making
