Whitsunday Counselling and Support (WCS) has supported individuals and families impacted by domestic and family violence and related challenges for over 30 years.
As the region’s only dedicated DFV service, we deliver trauma-informed, client-centred programs that empower families and create safer, stronger communities.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Families Coordinator to lead our family services stream.
This key leadership role oversees:
Intensive Family Support (IFS)
Tertiary Family Intervention Services (TFIS)
Specialist Family Counselling (SFC)
You will provide operational and practice leadership across both case management and therapeutic services, ensuring high-quality, child-focused, and trauma-informed support for families at risk of or involved with the child protection system.
Lead and coordinate day-to-day delivery of Families programs across the region
Supervise, mentor, and support staff across case management and counselling streams
Manage complex and high-risk family cases with a reduced caseload
Provide clinical guidance on risk assessment, safety planning, and child protection
Oversee intake, waitlists, and service prioritisation
Ensure compliance with legislation, funding requirements, and best practice frameworks
Build strong partnerships with Child Safety, community services, and key stakeholders
Monitor program performance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
You are a strong, values-driven leader with experience in family support, counselling, or child protection, and a passion for supporting vulnerable families.
Essential requirements:
Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or related discipline
Minimum 4 years’ experience in counselling or therapeutic support
Experience working with vulnerable families and/or child protection systems
Current Queensland Blue Card and driver’s licence
You will also bring:
Proven leadership or team supervision experience
Strong decision-making in high-risk and complex situations
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
