Looking to use your contract management expertise to make a real impact on mental health and wellbeing outcomes across northern Queensland? At Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN), we work with partners to design and commission health services that respond to community need. This role offers the opportunity to play a key role in improving outcomes in mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and suicide prevention. 

The role 

As the Senior Contracts Performance Officer – MHAODSP, you will play a key role in the delivery of commissioned services by managing contract performance, strengthening provider relationships, and ensuring services deliver high-quality outcomes. 

Working across the commissioning cycle, and partnering closely with internal teams and external providers to monitor performance, support continuous improvement, and ensure contractual obligations are achieved. 

What you’ll do 

In this role, you will be responsible for: 

• Take a holistic approach to evaluating contract performance, using the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (DoHDA) commissioning cycle to guide service delivery and outcomes. 

• Provide best practice advice on contract management and performance, including contract variations and key contracting considerations. 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with health service providers and key stakeholders. 

• Monitor contract performance through quarterly reports, clinical dashboards, and other indicators, and lead performance and governance discussions. 

• Prepare and manage contract-related documentation, including reports, correspondence, and presentations. 

• Lead a contract portfolio area and work with Planning and Design teams to drive continuous service improvement. 

• Collaborate with internal teams, including Business Services and Health System Integration and Innovation, to monitor and evaluate performance. 

• Contribute to the development of resources, tools, and materials to support effective contract management. 

• Work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure programs align with strategic and operational priorities. 

• Support the delivery, monitoring, and reporting of program outcomes in line with relevant frameworks and guidelines. 

• Contribute to a collaborative, integrated approach to commissioning across the organisation. 

Key selection criteria  

• Tertiary qualifications in a health related or human services discipline and three years’ experience in a similar role within a medium to large health service, or equivalent experience in the sector.  

• Demonstrated understanding of health commissioning processes and health service design and delivery in a community environment.   

• Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive support to the administration, management, and performance of contracts.  

• Demonstrated ability to develop rapport and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  

• Demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a high demand work environment.  

• Highly developed interpersonal, communication, influencing, partnering, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, particularly in relation to community and stakeholder engagement within the health sector.  

• Demonstrated skills in dealing with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.  

• Self-sufficient in the use of information technology – Microsoft Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
