S&S Heavy Haulage is seeking a motivated and organised Permits Officer to join our growing Mackay based team. This is a key operational role responsible for coordinating permits, compliance requirements, escorts, and administrative functions that support the safe and efficient delivery of heavy haulage projects across Queensland and Australia.
Working closely with our operations team, drivers, and customers, you will play an important part in ensuring transport movements are planned, compliant, and executed seamlessly.
Manage NHVAS and WAHVA accreditation requirements and compliance records.
Coordinate and obtain all permits required for heavy haulage movements.
Arrange police escorts, pilot vehicles, and other escort requirements.
Liaise with customers, government authorities, escort providers, and third parties regarding upcoming transport movements.
Process work orders, job packs, and transport documentation.
Maintain accurate records of permits, jobs, work orders, and compliance documentation.
Assist drivers with transport paperwork and permit requirements.
Process purchase orders, supplier invoices, and related administration tasks.
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as required.
Perform data entry, filing, document control, and record archiving.
Provide general administrative support to management and operational staff.
The successful applicant will ideally possess:
Previous experience in transport, logistics, compliance, or administration.
Heavy haulage industry experience is preferred but not essential.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
A proactive attitude and willingness to support the wider team.
Current Australian Driver's Licence.
