What we are looking forSt Patrick's College, Mackay invites applications from qualified and enthusiastic educators to join the their staff in the position of Secondary Teacher (Languages - Auslan). This is a full-time continuing position commencing January 2027.
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, authentic language instruction that reflects Auslan as a distinct visual-spatial language with its own grammar, syntax, and expressive features. They will design meaningful learning experiences that support students to develop communication skills while building an understanding of the linguistic richness and structure of Auslan.
This role requires a strong commitment to Deaf culture and community, embedding cultural perspectives, identity, and lived experiences into everyday teaching. The successful candidate will create an inclusive respectful classroom that values diversity and provides opportunities for authentic engagement with Deaf culture, fostering both language proficiency and cultural awareness in students.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing educators and those with lived or community connections to the Deaf community are encouraged to apply.

A high proficiency in Auslan is required and NAATI Qualifications and/or Diploma of Auslan are highly desirable.
