NEPEAN Power specialises in the design and manufacture of high quality industrial electrical equipment, supporting major mining, construction, and industrial operations across Australia and internationally.

The Opportunity
Due to continued growth across Queensland, NEPEAN Power is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to lead estimating and tendering activities for Queensland based projects.

This role is ideal for electricians who want to remain within the electrical industry while applying their commercial judgement, leadership capability, and business acumen developed through running projects, teams, or their own electrical businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, competitive, and technically compliant estimates for RFQs and tenders
• Develop detailed cost models covering labour, materials, subcontractors, plant, and preliminaries
• Review drawings, specifications, and scopes with a strong focus on constructability and delivery risk
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities to support profitable project outcomes
• Provide pricing and tender recommendations aligned to market conditions and strategic objectives
• Work closely with Business Development, Engineering, and Project teams to ensure smooth handover from tender to delivery
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates, and processes
• Maintain awareness of Queensland labour rates, supplier pricing, and industry trends
  

About You

• Qualified electrician with strong experience in electrical construction and project delivery
• Demonstrated business acumen gained through leading projects, managing teams, or operating an electrical contracting business
• Sound estimating and commercial experience, whether formal or developed through hands on industry exposure
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documentation in line with AS and NZ standards
• Experience across resources and mining, infrastructure, or commercial and industrial projects
• High level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating or project management systems
• Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage internal and external stakeholders

Highly Desirable

• Existing relationships within the Queensland mining and resources sector
• Exposure to renewable energy projects including solar, wind, or battery energy storage systems
• Experience working with EPC contractors or Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors
