About the Role This full-time Clinical Nurse position is based in a 100-bed residential aged care home in Mackay, working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Reporting to the Clinical Manager and Facility Manager, you will provide hands-on clinical leadership across the home, supporting Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and care staff to deliver consistent, high-quality resident care.
A key focus of this role will be helping build confidence within the clinical team. You will be visible on the floor, approachable with staff, and able to coach, mentor and guide nurses through clinical decision-making, documentation, escalation, care planning and best-practice aged care standards.
This is not just a compliance-focused position. It is a practical leadership role suited to someone who enjoys developing people, strengthening systems and helping a team feel more capable, supported and accountable.
Key responsibilities include: - Providing clinical leadership across a 100-bed aged care home
- Supporting RNs, EENs, AINs and care staff in day-to-day care delivery
- Building confidence, capability and accountability within the clinical team
- Maintaining high standards of clinical documentation and care planning
- Supporting accreditation readiness and Aged Care Quality Standards
- Assisting with quality assurance, audits and continuous improvement
- Monitoring resident care, clinical risk, incidents and escalation pathways
- Supporting funding-related documentation, including ACFI/AN-ACC processes
- Working closely with the Clinical Manager and Facility Manager
- Promoting a positive, resident-centred and learning-focused team culture
About You You will be an AHPRA-registered Registered Nurse with solid aged care experience and the confidence to guide others. You may already be working as a Clinical Nurse, Senior Registered Nurse, RN Team Leader, Care Coordinator, After Hours Coordinator or experienced aged care RN ready to move into a more structured leadership role.
You will bring strong clinical assessment skills, sound judgement and the ability to communicate clearly with residents, families and multidisciplinary teams. Just as importantly, you will be someone who can build trust with staff, coach in a constructive way and bring calm leadership to a busy residential aged care environment.
To be considered, you will need: - Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Experience in residential aged care
- Strong clinical assessment and care planning capability
- Knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards and accreditation requirements
- Understanding of AN-ACC, documentation and compliance expectations
- Ability to mentor, coach and support clinical and care teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A practical, approachable and resident-centred leadership style
