Catering Services Officer - Sarina Sugar Shed

Mackay Regional Council is looking for a friendly and energetic Café & Catering Star to join the team at the Sarina Sugar Shed. In this permanent part-time role, you'll help keep the café buzzing and catered events running smoothly by serving food and drinks, offering warm hospitality, and creating memorable experiences for every visitor.

About You

You are a reliable and adaptable team player with strong experience in food and beverage service who is ready to step up and take ownership in a café environment. You take pride in your work, enjoy delivering positive customer experiences, and are confident making decisions during fast-paced service.

You will bring:

  • Previous experience in Barista, food and beverage preparation for cafés and/or catered events
  • Experience with inventory control and stock rotation
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work under pressure
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to hygiene and safety standards

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years' experience
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate
  • Food Safety Supervisor certificate
  • Queensland 'C' Class Driver Licence (or interstate equivalent - transferable within 3 months)
  • Availability to work a roster including some evenings and weekends

Desirable

  • Queensland First Aid certificate
  • Qualifications in commercial cookery, kitchen operations or hospitality
  • Computer Skills and experience using POS systems such as SwiftPOS

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain an exemplary standard of kitchen and café hygiene
  • Prepare food and beverage items in line with customer orders and menu requirements
  • Assist with the development and preparation of menu items for onsite catered events
  • Deliver food and beverages while providing a high standard of customer service
  • Support the smooth operation of café and catering services during service periods
  • Assist with purchasing, invoicing and stock management through the POS system
  • Monitor stock levels, labour and materials to support cost efficiencies
  • Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety and hygiene
