Join Mackay Regional Council as an Asset Technical Officer and play a key role in turning completed capital projects and subdivisions into recognised, mapped and managed Council assets. About this opportunity:

In this role, you will help make sure Council’s new and completed assets are accurately recognised, recorded and mapped. You will support the handover of capital projects and subdivisions into Council’s asset systems, maintain reliable data across platforms including MiMaps and GIS, and work closely with internal teams to improve asset information and decision-making.

Key responsibilities:

• Create, record and map Council assets from completed projects and subdivisions.
• Support asset recognition and project handover activities.
• Maintain accurate asset data across MiMaps and GIS systems.
• Work with GIS, PMO and Asset Accounting teams to achieve quality outcomes.
• Analyse data, identify issues early and provide practical solutions.
• Help improve asset information, systems and service delivery.

About You

You will be someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems and making sure asset information is accurate, practical and useful.

You will demonstrate:

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and interrogate data.
• Experience working with asset systems, databases or technical information platforms.
• Critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify roadblocks and provide solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, reliable records.
• A collaborative approach and confidence working with a range of internal stakeholders.

What you'll bring

• A relevant qualification in Asset Management, Engineering, Information Management, Information Technology, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years’ experience in asset data, GIS mapping, capital project handover, asset recognition or a similar technical asset environment.
• Experience using asset, GIS or design systems such as MiMaps, AutoCAD, ArcMap or similar platforms.
• The ability to analyse information, think critically and work through challenges in a practical way.

Desirable

• Experience in local government or infrastructure environments
• Knowledge of lifecycle costing, asset planning, or capital works programming
• Exposure to GIS or reporting tools such as Power BI
• Understanding of asset management frameworks (e.g. ISO 55000)
