The Role

An opportunity has become available for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to join our B2B team on a full-time permanent basis, based out of Mackay.

This is a true territory-based, on-the-road role managing a Central/North Queensland territory stretching from Bowen down to Rockhampton, including key mining and industrial regions such as Dysart and surrounding areas.

As a Business Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing an existing customer base while driving new business growth across a highly active mining, industrial and trade-focused region. This role is hands-on and customer-facing, with a strong focus on building relationships, identifying opportunities and delivering tailored safety solutions.

You’ll work closely with internal teams across operations, supply chain and customer service, ensuring a seamless experience for your customers while continuing to grow your territory.

Key Responsibilities

Territory & Account Management

  • Manage and grow an existing portfolio of B2B customers within your territory
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across mining, industrial, construction and trade environments
  • Maintain regular customer contact through structured call cycles and site visits

New Business Development

  • Identify and convert new business opportunities across your region
  • Prospect, cold call and generate leads to build a strong pipeline
  • Expand market presence and increase share of wallet within your territory

Sales & Commercial Execution

  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through to quoting, order placement and ongoing account management
  • Deliver commercially sound solutions aligned to customer needs
  • Negotiate pricing and close deals confidently

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment and customer outcomes
  • Resolve customer queries and proactively manage issues
  • Contribute to team sales targets and broader business objectives

Market Awareness

  • Stay informed on local market activity, competitor movement and customer trends
  • Provide insights to support ongoing territory growth and strategy
About You
  • Proven experience in B2B sales, business development or account management
  • Comfortable working in a field-based, on-the-road role
  • Strong relationship-building skills with a customer-first mindset
  • Commercially driven with a proactive approach to winning new business
  • Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage a territory and pipeline effectively
