The Role

We are seeking a skilled Truck Driver to join our awesome team at Southern Steel QLD based in Townsville.

The right person will enjoy life on the road and also be willing to pitch in and get it done for our customers. 

The role requires you to be agile, adaptive and able to work in a fast-paced environment all while delivering Steel to our customers in a professional, timely and safe manner. The role requires overnight trips to service areas of Capricornia region.

Main responsibilities include: 

• Loading and unloading of steel products;

• Ensure material is securely restrained at all times;

• Present to clients in a courteous and friendly manner to promote and maintain company image;

• Assist in maintaining vehicle in good working order completing any vehicle checklists as required;

• Ensure that all road rules including those pertaining to speed, load and tonnage requirements and that safety rules and regulations are strictly adhered to.

To succeed in this role, you must have the following:

• A valid Heavy Combination (HC) licence with a clean driving record;

• Previous work experience in steel distribution/warehousing (an advantage);

• Knowledge of Crane Handling (an advantage);

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;

• A ‘can do’ attitude to work, flexible and able to work autonomously in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
