About the role

G K Freighters is seeking a Yard Person/Truck Loader to join our warehouse and distribution operations based in Garbutt, Queensland. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst playing a crucial role in our daily logistics operations. As a Yard Person/Truck Loader, you will be responsible for the efficient loading, unloading, and movement of freight within our warehouse. This hands-on role is essential to ensuring our operations run smoothly and our customers receive their deliveries on time.

What you'll be doing

  1. Loading and unloading freight from trucks, ensuring goods are handled safely and efficiently

  2. Operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move and store goods

  3. Sorting and organising freight according to delivery schedules and warehouse procedures

  4. Maintaining accurate records of goods received and dispatched

  5. Performing yard maintenance and keeping work areas clean and organised

  6. Assisting with inventory checks and stock verification

  7. Following all health and safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment

  8. Supporting the wider warehouse team to meet daily operational targets

What we're looking for

  1. Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour, including lifting heavy items regularly

  2. Experience in warehouse operations, yard work, or truck loading is preferred

  3. Familiarity with forklift operation or willingness to obtain certification

  4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling freight and documentation

  5. Ability to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced warehouse environment

  6. Excellent team collaboration and communication skills

  7. Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to accommodate casual shift schedules

  8. Current driver's licence & or Truck Licence is advantageous
