Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity exists for a highly organised and proactive Procurement Assistant to join our Mackay based team.

The Opportunity

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity exists for a highly organised and proactive Junior Procurement Assistant to join our Mackay based team.

This role is ideally suited to someone with approximately two years of previous recent administration experience who is looking to develop a career in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.

You do not need previous procurement experience to be successful in this role. We are seeking a motivated and organised individual with strong administration skills, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in developing their career within a manufacturing and engineering environment.

Working closely with experienced Procurement and Operations professionals, you will receive training and mentoring to develop your skills across purchasing, supplier management, inventory coordination, and procurement administration.

Key Responsibilities

Initially, your focus will be on providing administrative support to the Procurement and Operations teams, including:

  • Data entry and maintenance of procurement records.
  • Assisting with purchase orders and supplier documentation.
  • Coordinating deliveries and tracking orders.
  • Liaising with suppliers, project teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting goods receipting and invoice processing activities.
  • Assisting with procurement reporting and administration.
  • Providing general office administration support as required.
  • Assisting with reception and office coordination duties when required.

As your experience develops, you will receive training in:

  • Obtaining supplier quotations.
  • Purchasing project and consumable materials.
  • Supplier relationship management.
  • Procurement systems and processes.
  • Inventory and supply chain coordination.
  • Supporting project procurement activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Completion of Year 12 (HSC or equivalent).
  • Approximately 2 years of administration, office support, customer service or data entry experience.
  • Qualifications in Business Administration (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Previous exposure to manufacturing, engineering, procurement or supply chain environments will be highly regarded but is not essential.
