The Opportunity

Lead Underground Drilling Operations. Drive Safety. Deliver Results

Cougar Drilling is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Supervisor to join our Queensland Operations team. Reporting directly to the QLD State Manager, you will play a critical role in the planning, execution, and management of underground directional drilling projects, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes for our clients. As the link between management and frontline crews, you will provide leadership, technical expertise and operational oversight to keep projects running smoothly while maintaining Cougar's high standards of safety and performance.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervising and coordinating all phases of underground directional drilling projects from site mobilisation through to demobilisation

  • Ensuring drilling activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project plans and client requirements

  • Leading, coaching, and mentoring drillers and offsiders to achieve production targets while maintaining Cougar standards

  • Conducting site inspections, audits and scoping activities to ensure compliance with safety, operational, and environmental requirements

  • Managing shift planning, workforce coordination, rosters and resource allocation

  • Monitoring drilling performance, reporting non-conformances and implementing corrective actions where required

  • Maintaining critical spares, consumables and equipment maintenance requirements

  • Ensuring all operational documentation, reports, audits and records are completed accurately and on time

  • Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all WHS legislation, site requirements and company procedures


What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a Project Supervisor or similar leadership role within underground drilling or mining operations

  • Certificate III in Drilling

  • Strong understanding of underground directional drilling processes and drill rig operations

  • Experience in gas drainage and gas management practices within underground mining environments

  • A proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement

  • The ability to interpret drilling plans, identify risks and report non-compliance when required
