About The BUSY School…

The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting over 47 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, Inclusive Employment Support, and allied health services.

The BUSY School is an independent Special Assistance School with 10 campuses across Queensland and New Zealand, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. Our program has expanded to include The BUSY School Online (TBSO) offering flexible access to our program for all students across Queensland.

Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with an education program that includes vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. Our team support the students to gain employability and transferability skills to increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes.

Our teams’ focus is centred at re-engaging our students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon student’s graduation from Year 12.


About the position...

Join The BUSY School at our Campus in Townsville! As the Employment Pathways Officer, you will be required to support students with connections to industry that lead to placements and employment. By providing a personalised case management approach to advising students on career choices/pathways and actively progressing them through the relevant opportunities for training and employment. You will also establish and manage a work experience program for students, including the sourcing of opportunities, preparing students, monitoring students while on placement and all related records. 

This role is permanent full time based from our Townsville Campus.

About you...

  • Proven ability to develop cooperative working relationships with broad range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure outcomes for students are achieved
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in working with vocational education pathways, in particular the Australian School Based Apprenticeship program
  • Excellent communicator, a promoter who is influential with the ability to seek and secure opportunities
  • Hold at minimum Certificate III or equivalent in relevant field of study
  • Ability to obtain a Blue Card and National Police Check with no disclosable outcomes
