About the Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, the CNC Programmer is responsible for generating CNC programs manually and/or using CAD/CAM software (SURFCAM) to support all machining operations across our workshop.

You will work across a diverse range of equipment, including:

  • 3-axis double head rail CNC milling machines with controllers including:

    • SIEMENS

    • FANUC

    • FAGOR

  • 3-axis vertical CNC milling machines with:

    • HEIDENHAIN controllers

This role requires a strong understanding of different control platforms and the ability to optimise machining processes across multiple machine types to ensure efficiency, quality, and reliability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise CNC programs to meet quality and production targets

  • Perform 2D drafting and 3D modelling for machining

  • Prove and validate programs prior to release

  • Maintain CNC program database and documentation

  • Identify and implement machining and process improvements

  • Design tooling, jigs and fixtures

  • Support troubleshooting and fault finding on machinery

  • Liaise with Production and Engineering teams

  • Operate CNC/manual machines as required


About You

  • Proven CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong CAD/CAM skills (SURFCAM preferred)

  • Experience across multiple controller types (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, etc.)

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Hands-on machining background

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
