We are currently seeking motivated and experienced Trades Assistants to join our team in the Mackay Component Rebuild Workshop. In this position, you will play a vital role in supporting skilled tradespeople with the rebuild and refurbishment of heavy equipment components. These roles offer permanent, stable employment on a Monday to Friday roster.
What you'll be doing
As a Trades Assistant at Hastings Deering, you will:

Support rebuild activities - assist tradespeople with the strip, clean, inspection and rebuild of heavy equipment components to required standards.

Provide workshop support - carry out general workshop duties including cleaning, preparation, and organisation of parts and components.

Operate workshop equipment - safely use basic workshop equipment and tooling to support repair and rebuild activities.

Handle components safely - perform manual handling tasks in line with workplace health and safety procedures.

Maintain a safe workspace - ensure the workshop environment is clean, organised, and compliant with safety requirements at all times.

Manage component logistics - assist with the packing, storage, and movement of parts & components within the workshop and storage areas.

Follow company standards - comply with all Hastings Deering safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.

What you'll need:
A successful teammate will have experience in:

Relevant industry experience - previous experience as a Trades Assistant or exposure to a mechanical or workshop environment is preferred.

Licences - current driver's licence required; forklift licence is desirable.

Strong work ethic - motivated, reliable, and willing to learn and develop new skills.

Mechanical aptitude - good hands-on ability with strong attention to detail.

Team-focused approach - able to work effectively as part of a team while also operating independently when required.
