Join Cougar Drilling and play a critical role in keep our underground drilling operations running safely, efficiently and reliably.

We are seeking an experienced Underground Fitter who is passionate about maintenance excellence and safety. This unique role combines underground mechanical maintenance responsibilities with Driller's Offsider duties when maintenance requirements allow, offering variety and career development opportunities within a growing business.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Performing scheduled and breakdown maintenance on underground drilling equipment and mobile plant

  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and hyrdaulic faults

  • Maintaining equipment reliability, availability and performance

  • Managing critical spares, consumables and maintenance inventory

  • Completing maintenance doucmentation, equipment reports and work orders accurately

  • Supporting underground drilling operations as a Driller's Offsider when required

  • Identifying hazards, risks and non-conformances while maintaining a strong safety focus

  • Working collaboratively with site personnel to achieve operational targets


What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter

  • Certificate IV in Hydraulics

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, including the ability to interpret hydraulic schematics

  • Experience in maintaining underground mobile plant or drilling equipment

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

  • Strong commitment to WHS

  • Physically fit and capable of working in a demanding underground environment

Highly Regarded

  • Underground Fitter sign-off

  • Experience working on underground drilling rigs

  • Underground machine appointments

  • Certificate III in Drilling
