Shutdown Riggers / Boilermakers / Fitters

Briones Group is seeking experienced shutdown personnel for upcoming Glencore coal site shutdown work, with a strong focus on rigging, dogging, lifting support, mechanical maintenance and structural works.

We are looking for reliable and safety-focused personnel who are confident working in CHPP, fixed plant and heavy mining environments. This work will suit people who can work well within a shutdown crew, follow site processes, and assist with planned maintenance, lifting activities, structural/mechanical repairs and general shutdown execution.

Immediate and upcoming shutdown opportunities are available for suitable candidates who already hold the required Glencore site requirements.

Must Have
  • Current Standard 11

  • Current Coal Board Medical

  • Current Glencore Generic Induction

  • Valid Driver’s Licence

  • Relevant High Risk Work Licence for the role, including Dogging, Rigging, Crane, EWP or Forklift where applicable

  • Working at Heights

  • Confined Space

  • Gas Test Atmospheres

Role-Specific Requirements

Riggers / Dogmen

  • Current Dogging and/or Rigging High Risk Work Licence

  • Proven experience supporting lifts in shutdown or heavy industry environments

  • Ability to work safely around cranes, lifting equipment and suspended loads

  • Strong understanding of exclusion zones, communication, lift plans and permit requirements

Boilermakers

  • Relevant trade certificate

  • Mining shutdown or fixed plant maintenance experience

  • Current Glencore GCAA Welder Competency where welding work is required

  • Ability to complete structural repairs, plate work, chute work, guards, platforms and general shutdown maintenance

Fitters

  • Relevant trade certificate

  • Experience in fixed plant, CHPP or heavy maintenance environments

  • Ability to complete shutdown maintenance, component changeouts and mechanical repair work

Desirable
  • First Aid Certificate

  • EWP Licence

  • Forklift Licence

  • Crane Licence

  • Previous Glencore coal site experience

  • CHPP, washplant, conveyor, chute, pump, screen or dragline shutdown experience

  • Understand risk assessments, permits and JSEAs

  • Can work as part of a shutdown crew without constant supervision

  • Communicate well with supervisors, crane crews and other trades

  • Have a solid work ethic and take pride in quality workmanship

  • Are physically fit and reliable for shutdown work

  • Represent Briones Group professionally on site
