The Opportunity

Get in on the ground floor! We’re seeking a skilled Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to join our Bowen Depot, QLD. This role offers the perfect lifestyle balance with a Monday–Friday schedule. If you're ready for a new journey, we want to hear from you!

Job tasks and responsibilities

Reporting to the Group Workshop Manager to ensure the smooth and timely operation of servicing and ongoing fleet requirements.

• Perform Electrical/Mechanical repairs on buses, trailers, light vehicles and to include major overhauls as directed;

• Plan and implement the Maintenance Vehicle System (VMS) for scheduled preventative maintenance;

• Make emergency service calls for stranded buses;

• Record all service work done for vehicle history records;

• Carry out general workshop duties as directed;

• Report needs for additional service or repairs to vehicles that has been detected during routine inspections;

• Make recommendations to the Workshop Manager for ordering and stocking all necessary repair parts (may also have to do ordering on an ad hoc basis);

• Ensure all tools and equipment that are used are safe;

• Observe and maintain a high level of safety at all times;

• Report non conformances and assist in resolution;

• Assist with or carry out in-process and final inspection as needed;

• Comply with all company procedures including OH&S procedures;

• Ensure the workshop is maintained in a clean and safe state;

• Working week is Monday to Friday, plus on-call and after hours duties/weekends as per rotating roster;

• Other duties as required (e.g. driving).

Skills and experience

• The successful applicant must have attained relevant trade qualifications (Cert III in Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic);

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

• Strong mechanical, workshop and safety knowledge;

• Previous Bus/Coach experience, preferred;

• MR Licence, or willing to obtain;

• High work ethics, reliable and ability to produce high quality workmanship;

• Ability to work under pressure, to agreed time frames;

• Diagnostic / fault finding skills;

• Strong communicator and ability to collaborate with teams across the business;
